I began woodworking after retiring as an engineer. I now enjoy making wooden bowls, vases, round boxes, and some wooden wall hangings. They are all made of hardwoods.
Many of the pieces I make are a challenge which keeps it interesting. I vary the shape, and combination of wood colors by selection of the woods used. A large part of my work is done on a lathe and part of the challenge comes in trying to stretch the envelope in terms of making the item large while maintaining the piece’s stable on a rapidly spinning lathe or giving it a small diameter with out it breaking.
